Duties This position provide you with the opportunity to provide the Agency with information services and technology solutions utilized to secure the border, prevent terrorist entry, and ensure the efficient flow of lawful individuals across the U.

The Information Technology Specialist (Security) position ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools.
Duties and responsibilities include: Resolving integration issues related to the implementation of new systems with existing software Performing security assessments and conducting special analysis of systems to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities Advising customers on the evaluation of functional requirements and translating complex requirements into technical solutions to meet business needs Providing expert technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on critical and emerging IT issues Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.

Qualifications Basic Requirements: Individual have demonstrated Information Technology experience related to each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
And, Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Supporting the design, development, coding, testing, implementation, and maintenance of application software, systems, and programs Reviewing proposed new systems, applications, and software designs for potential security risks Translating functional/business requirements into technical requirements to develop and implement new and innovative software solutions Providing technical advice and guidance regarding critical IT issues, software design, and information systems security NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.
