; full-benefits This position is responsible for performing clerical and secretarial duties for the Circuit Court Division of the State's Attorney's Office.
Supervision is received from the Chief Legal Office Associate and Deputy State's Attorney.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Compose and/or type memorandums, letters, and reports Assist with the processing of pleadings and other legal documents for assigned cases Perform office reception duties; provide information to the public and/or refer to other staff members in person, electronically, and/or via telephone Update and maintain manual and computerized files and filing systems Receive, sort and distribute incoming interoffice and postal service mail As needed, perform various clerical duties necessary to office operations (photocopy, file, prepare mailing labels, stuff envelopes, etc.
) Perform other related duties as required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS The qualifications/requirements, knowledge/skills/abilities and physical requirements or working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
High school graduation or the equivalent Minimum 2 years of administrative support work experience which includes customer services work experience Intermediate skills in the use of MS Office Suite NOTE: Possession of a college degree and/or completion of a Frederick County State's Attorney's Office internship program may substitute for a portion of the work experience requirement KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to accurately prepare and maintain detailed files and references Ability to effectively complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision Discretion and good judgment in working with sensitive information; ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, attorneys and others in the judicial system, law enforcement officers and agencies, and the general public Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR: A college degree Work experience in a law office or legal system environment Work experience in a criminal prosecution or criminal defense environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently sit, walk and perform repetitive motions; and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / EXAMINATION PROCESS Available for varied working hours when needed to accommodate meetings or other commitments KIND OF EXAMINATION (may include): An evaluation of training and experience Related office skills testing One or more interviews Pre-employment background investigation conducted by the State Attorney's Office Pre-employment drug test to include marijuana This description reflects management's assignment of essential duties; it does not proscribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
