Job Summary:
The candidate will be joining a cross-functional security team responsible for the security posture of commercial software products supporting DoD missions, organizational software development environments enabling new product development, and maintaining regulatory compliance in support of business and information systems infrastructure.
The candidate will operate in a team environment and will learn and exercise security frameworks, assessments, remediation, and improvements.
The candidate will have opportunities to work with emerging product development teams supporting security requirements as equal weighted with functional requirements.
The candidate will also have opportunities to work with secure architectures, security procedures and tests for newer technologies to include containers, kubernetes, and service-meshes, etc.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Support identification, investigation and resolution of technical security items.
Contribute to real team goals/deliverables working within a clear framework and exercising personal responsibility
Exercise verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally with internal customers and technical and non-technical persons
Learn to conduct tool-assisted vulnerability and compliance network assessment updates, and work with relevant personnel to resolve findings
Learn about industry standard documentation and how it applies to/implemented on products, programs, and companies (NIST SP 800-171 r2 and NIST SP 800-53 r4/5)
Learn to maintain security assessment environments and tools
Minimum Job Requirements:
Enrollment in a four-year college degree program in engineering, cyber security, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or other related technical discipline and in at least the second year of college
Effective written and oral communication skills to include the use of typical Microsoft Office products.
Candidate should possess interpersonal and team-oriented skills
Candidate should be comfortable working in both remote and in-office environments
Basic understanding of Unix/Linux-based operating systems (RedHat, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu, etc.
)
Basic understanding of software development and environments
Previously exposed to introductory computer language training.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to one or more security tools (ex.
Nessus, Nmap, Grype, Wireshark, Wazuh, OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, etc.
)
Basic understanding of NIST frameworks
Any experience with automation and/or containerization technologies
