We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller for our Frederick, MD location! Job Summary: The Assistant Controller is responsible for providing consistent leadership and oversight for the overall financial health and operations of the business ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

Prepares financial documents such as financial forecasts, P & L, monthly budgets per department and for business as a whole as well as month end and inventory reports.
Ensures timely preparation of monthly financial statements, management of receivables, payables cash balances and timely deposits of all funds.
Creates and manage annual budgets.
Manages the month end close process.
Ensures timely reviews and approvals of all balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
Directs and/or prepares all financial reports meeting all due dates and deadlines.
Investigates any discrepancies and ensures that timely and accurate corrections are made.
Establishes and continually audit internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventory, and payroll.
Assists leadership with important financial decisions.
Effectively manages and communicates cash flow related issues.
Maintains compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Provides ongoing supervision, training, coaching and feedback to improve performance and meet objectives of all assigned areas of ensure optimal performace.
Provides leadership to designated teams through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication based on direction from senior management.
Addresses issues of concern related to performance providing constructive and ongoing feedback and consequences if performance remains below standards.
Ensures that all direct reports comply with required safety standards and ensure that team members are safety conscious at all times.
Conducts frequent performance evaluations to designated team.
Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.
Provides regular performance updates and recommendation to senior management.
Responsible for effective hiring of all new team members.
Continually searches for ways to improve results and effectiveness.
Responsible for recommending process/operational improvement.
Interface with other internal departments in the resolution of retail business issues as required Assisting assigned team and management with various duties as requested Follows safety policies and procedures Other duties as assigned * Duties may vary by location.
Minimum Requirements: 2-year college degree with an Accounting / Finance concentration and a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
Excellent computer competency is required, including a minimum of 3-year experience Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook with exceptional experience in spreadsheet management.
Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to work overtime with little notice; weekends hours may occasionally be required Preferred Qualifications: 4- year college degree with an Accounting / Finance concentration and a minimum of 2 years related experience Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Customer service mindset Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent written and verbal communication skills Able to work in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task Willingness to learn and be a part of a team Positive attitude and a team player Ability to build positive relationships with customers, both internal and external Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization Safety mindset and acceptance of a safety culture Working Conditions: Open office environment Fast-paced environment Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/move up to 20 pounds frequently Frequently performs tasks requiring bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching Must be able to adhere to long periods of standing, walking or sitting Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other office equipment safely.
